Job Summary





The Histocompatibility and Flow Cytometry Laboratory at
Carolinas Laboratory Network in Charlotte, NC provides services for the hematology and oncology
programs at Carolinas Medical Center’s Levine Cancer Institute, one of the
leading cancer centers in the Southeast.  





The laboratory is seeking to hire a full-time flow cytometry lead technologist
responsible for managing and performing high-complexity testing to support the laboratory.
  This position would be involved in all
aspects of testing in the laboratory including immunophenotyping for the
leukemia and lymphoma programs, lymphocyte subset analysis and additional flow
cytometry based testing.
  Also, this
position performs many additional supportive roles including regulatory/QA activities, procedure writing and review, education of students and
communicating with other medical staff.
 







This position may require some on-call night and rotating weekend coverage.






Essential Functions





-Manage the technical aspects of the flow cytometry laboratory

-Maintain essential laboratory equipment

-Perform and analyze laboratory tests 

-Provide administrative and supportive assistance to the
laboratory

-Participate in educational and development
opportunities  

-Write and review laboratory procedures

-Validate new assays and procedures

-Work closely with director, supervisor and other
technologists in a collaborative environment.



Physical Requirements

Works in a busy environment around physicians,
technologists, and other hospital teammates. Works in an area which contains
biohazardous (infectious) materials along with chemical, fire, and mechanical
hazards. May be required to stoop, reach and lift light (20 pound) to
moderately heavy (50 pound) loads.






Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelors Degree in life sciences required. ASCP Registered
Technologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience in flow cytometry testing
is preferred.
