Position Summary:

The technologist performs Flow
Cytometry assays and analysis, verifies appropriate test panels and chooses
additional testing, if necessary, with proficiency and understanding of Flow
Cytometry principles including hematologic morphology. The technologist is
responsible for accurate reporting of results, assay and equipment quality
control, equipment maintenance and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
The Flow Technologist is also responsible for adhering to HIPAA standards and
strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) requirements. Environmental hazards such as chemicals, sharps, lasers,
potentially infectious samples, etc. are present in the workplace.


Essential Duties:

Daily duties include using a continually updating pending
worklist on PowerPath, verifying orders, processing of samples, operating
cytometers, analyzing data using analysis software, importing histograms and
entering Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes into PowerPath.

Daily instrument maintenance (start-up and shutdown) and quality

Monthly and semi-annual instrument maintenance.

Preparing antibody cocktails.

Staining bone marrow slides/cover slips, peripheral smears and
cytospins with Wright-Giemsa stain.

Instrument troubleshooting.

Weekly supply ordering.

Other duties as assigned


Recognition of patterns and disease states

Ability to see & distinguish all colors used in processing

Ability to handles potentially infectious samples and biohazard

Clearly documents work progress and processes

Fine motor skills for pipetting

Able to multitask

Able to work well in a group

Exhibits attention to detail


MT (ASCP) or CCy certified

BS in related field required

High complexity testing eligible required

2+ years of experience preferred


Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
