Overview: 



  • The Flow cytometry supervisor provides oversight for a low volume clinical pediatric Flow Cytometry laboratory with <5 personnel and assists in managing the operational aspects of the department and is accountable for day to day patient testing activities within the laboratory. The Flow laboratory provides testing for the two campus system.   The supervisor partners with other department leaders and clinical staff to ensure that needs are met to deliver seamless patient care.  Our test menu currently includes leukemia/lymphoma, minimal residual disease for B lymphoblastic leukemia (COG approved), lymphocyte subset analysis, CD45RA/RO naïve/memory enumeration, and CD34 enumeration.  We are looking to grow in areas of specialized Immunology testing.



 


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field or has met the minimal education and experience requirements as outlined by a nationally recognized Medical Technology certifying body


  • Five (5) years full time experience as a medical technologist in a clinical Flow Cytometry laboratory



 



  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent)



 



  • Eligible for supervisor certification by the Georgia Department of Human Resources



 



  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills



 



  • Thorough knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling



 


 



  • Considerable knowledge of Flow Cytometry laboratory equipment, terminology and standards. 



Preferred qualifications:


 



  • SCYMCM certification



 



  • Gating experience highly preferred



 



  • Supervisory experience



 



  • Experience with BD platform or willingness to attend training



 


 



  • Knowledge of Immunology testing
