We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory


The individual hired in this position is responsible for learning flow cytometry, if not already proficient, and cell processing, including PBMC isolation, cytokine analysis and other immunological assays used in the diagnostic setting. The individual has to demonstrate competency in all aspects of clinical laboratory testing including accurate experimental analysis, reporting of results, sample handling, inventory of samples and reagents, quality control, instrument maintenance tasks, as required and needed, and customer service to physicians and other staff. Each employee is expected to be a supportive link between laboratory customers and other areas within the department and project a professional image through telephone communication to internal and external Nationwide Children's Hospital customers.

What Are We Looking For?

Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science; or a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution. Prefer American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified. 

Proficiency in flow cytometry is advantageous but not mandatory. Proficiency in cellular processing, immunoassays and other diagnostic immunology analyses is also preferred, but on-the-job training will also be provided to otherwise suitable candidates.

This lab specializes in diagnostic immunology, and utilizes a variety of techniques including flow cytometry, cellular analyses, soluble biomarker immunoassays among others. The laboratory’s expertise is in inborn errors of immunity (genetic disorders of the immune system), evaluating the immune system in the context of transplantation (organ and hematopoietic). 

Organizational skills, attention to detail, efficiency and ability to use a variety of different flow cytometry-related analytical software and other statistical and graphical software, such as GraphPad Prism is an advantage.
