Director of Validations in the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory Service
New York, NY -- The Department of Pathology, Molecular and Cell Based Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Director (Technical) of Validations in the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory Service at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.The Director of Validations manages and oversees the optimization, validation and implementation of new flow cytometric assays into the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory. The candidate is expected to establish robust SOPs in compliance with regulatory authorities and work in collaboration with the Director and Medical Directors of Flow Cytometry to strategize new technologies and assays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate and communicate with the Director and Medical Directors in designing and optimizing clinical flow cytometry assays.
Formulate validation plans for clinical flow cytometry assays in accordance with regulatory authority requirements.
Oversee and manage staff in the optimization and validation of flow cytometry assays in the Clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory.
Provide technical troubleshooting for validation projects and decision making.
Monitor and track status of validation activities with documentation.
Collaborate with the Director in establishing SOPs in accordance with CLIA/ CAP/NYSDOH regulations.
Collaborate with Director in overseeing, planning and preparation for inspections (CAP, NYS, JACHO).
Stays up-to-date of new technologies/methodologies/test and suggests implementation of new technology within the laboratory.
Participates in strategic planning for growth of the Flow Cytometry Laboratory.
PhD in appropriate field or MD with laboratory experience.
NYS COQs in Cellular Immunology, Malignant Leukocyte Immunophenotyping, and Cellular Immunology, Non-Malignant Immunophenotyping preferred.
Prior flow cytometry experience including panel design and method development of multicolor flow cytometry.
Experience with different flow cytometry platforms and analyses software.
Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
Strong problem solving, training, and team building skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
