Luncheon Workshops

Luncheon workshops will be offered on Monday, October 5  and Tuesday, October 6.

You must be an in-person meeting registrant to attend these events. The session will not be live streamed or recorded. Lunch is included with each luncheon workshop registration and attendees may register for one workshop per day.

More information will be listed as details are finalized.

Pre-registration is highly recommended as most workshops do sell out due to limited space. Workshops are 75 USD before August 28 and 85 USD after August 28.

Monday, October 5th (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 1: Publishing Your Flow Cytometry Work
    • Joe DiGiuseppe & Fred Preffer
Are you a newly minted academic researcher or hematopathologist embarking upon a career in which flow cytometry is highly involved? If so, are you mystified by how scientific papers are written and judged by Journal reviewers? Similarly, do you want to learn how to review papers? This is important as your publication record and membership on editorial boards are both extremely important in obtaining academic promotions and grant awards. In this workshop our ICCS Journal’s Associate Editor Joe DiGiuseppe and Editor-in-Chief Frederic Preffer will pull back the curtain on these processes, in order to help clarify and discuss these matters with you!

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 2: T-Cell Lymphoma Diagnostics Including TRBC1 and TRBC2
    • Chrysanthi Tsamado

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 3: Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes & Flow Cytometry Clues
    • Rachel Mariani

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 4: Spectral Flow Cytometry - Practical Applications Workshop
    • Joe Lownik & Jean Oak
Spectral flow cytometry is increasingly being adopted in clinical laboratories due to its expanded multiparametric capabilities. However, successful implementation requires careful consideration of instrument selection, validation strategies, panel design, quality management, and long-term standardization. Through case-based discussion and lessons learned from clinical implementation, attendees will gain practical tools to support the successful deployment and long-term operation of spectral flow cytometry in the clinical laboratory.

Tuesday, October 6th (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 5: Clinical Flow Cytometry in the AI Era: Practical Applications and Workflow Integration
    • Joe Lownik & Xuehai Wang

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 6: Real-World Example of a Validation Plan: Flow Cytometer and Cell Prepper
    • Jolene Cardinali
In this workshop, real world examples of instrument and cell prepper validation will be discussed. This will include my lab’s approaches to Accuracy, Precision (Intra-assay and Inter-assay), Carryover, Analyte Measurement Range & Linearity, Analytical/Diagnostic Sensitivity and Specificity. Resources such as CLSI H62, CAP checklists and relevant ICCS Modules will be shown/discussed to help guide validation. Templates and approaches to a “game plan” will be discussed to give practical guidance for Instrument Validation and/or Verification.

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 7: MDS
    • Arjan van de Loosdrecht

  • LUNCH WORKSHOP 8: Flow Test Utilization
    • Adam Seegmiller
As healthcare costs in general, and diagnostic testing costs specifically increase, it is incumbent upon laboratories to be wise stewards of healthcare resources. This workshop is designed to demonstrate evidence-based diagnostic algorithms and testing workflows that maximize the production of useful diagnostic data, while minimizing low-utility testing in the clinical flow cytometry laboratory.
